Welcome to the Desborough Community Development Trust

Desborough Community Development Trust is an organisation committed to the regeneration of the town.

It all started in June 2010 when a group of interested Desborough residents met at St. Giles Community Centre to discuss how we could improve the environment in Desborough.  Those present resolved to identify new ways of funding and organising development of the town with its many derelict buildings and unfulfilled potential, and the meeting brought together a huge range of differing perspectives on our heritage, business, sports facilities, street furniture, youth facilities, transport, commerce and trade.  The outcome was a firm commitment to establish a community development trust that would look at the broadest means of drawing together the energies and abilities of the townspeople, old and new.

From there, the Trust was formed with its own Board of Directors.

We have taken on the lease of 50-52, Station Road and set up a shop selling second hand goods and providing a place for anyone to come in and chat about what they would like to see happen in Desborough, ask for advice, and suggest projects for the Trust to look at and take on.  We have received many donations, made a lot of sales and the shop has become a place to come and discuss your issues.  We thank everyone who has visited us so far and look forward to many others coming in - to browse, buy, chat, volunteer or join the Trust.  You can call us at the shop on 01536 761008.

We are a registered charity (No: 1142865).

We are a member of the Locality - more information about this organisation can be found on the ‘Locality’ page.
